Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my child needs psychological support?

Noticeable changes in sleep, appetite or behaviour, long-lasting unhappiness or anger, difficulties at school or with friends, and fears that seem unusual for their age are signs worth paying attention to. If you are unsure, we can start with a parent meeting.

Are parents involved in the process?

Yes. With children, the first meeting is usually with the parents, and we continue with regular parent sessions. With teenagers, we agree together on the balance between privacy and trust.

Is sport psychology only for professional athletes?

No. Amateur and young athletes, coaches and teams can also get support with performance anxiety, motivation, focus and team communication.

Are online sessions suitable for children?

With young children, in-person, play-based work is usually more effective. Sessions with teens, parents and athletes work well online too.

Will what is shared stay confidential?

Yes. What is shared in sessions is kept confidential under professional ethics and the law. We discuss the limits of confidentiality (for example a serious risk to life) in the first meeting.

What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors and can prescribe medication. Clinical psychologists work in psychological assessment and psychotherapy. When needed, we can work alongside a child psychiatrist.
