Confidentiality
Between Us
One of the most important parts of therapy is knowing that you can speak freely. What you share here is listened to without judgement and stays between you and me. This page explains openly how I protect your information.
What we talk about in our sessions, including the fact that you see me, is not shared with anyone without your permission. This promise holds after our work together has ended, too.
How I protect your information
What we talk about in sessions
Everything you share in sessions is confidential. It is not shared with anyone, including your family, school, workplace, coach or club, without your written permission.
I don’t tell anyone that you see me either; even if someone asks, I neither confirm nor deny it.
Keeping your records safe
I keep my session notes brief, only as much as is needed for our work. They are stored in encrypted, protected places that only I can access.
Sessions are never recorded as audio or video without your explicit permission. Records are destroyed securely once the retention period ends.
Working with children and teenagers
Children and teenagers need a safe space to talk, too. With parents I share how things are going in general and what can help at home; the details a child tells me in a session stay with me, to protect their trust.
If something concerns a child’s safety, I always inform the parents, and wherever possible I talk it through with the child first.
Athletes, schools and organisations
Even when I work with a club, school or organisation, what is said in individual sessions belongs to that person. Coaches, managers or teachers only receive what you agree to, usually as general recommendations.
Online sessions and messages
For online sessions I use secure, encrypted video platforms. I ask you to join from a place where no one can overhear you.
I use WhatsApp and email only for appointments and practical matters; we talk about therapy in our sessions.
Forms on this website
Information from the booking, invitation and contact forms is kept in a protected panel that only I can access. It is not shared with third parties and is deleted when no longer needed.
There is no need to write detailed health information in the forms; we can talk about it in person at the first meeting.
Professional support, and meeting outside
For my professional development I may take part in supervision or consult colleagues; nothing that could identify you is ever shared.
If we happen to meet outside, I won’t show that I know you unless you greet me first. It is entirely your choice.
Your personal data (KVKK)
Under Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, No. 6698), health information is a special category of personal data; it is processed only with your explicit consent and only as far as necessary.
You always have the right to see your information and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted.
To read in detail how your personal data is processed, see the KVKK privacy notice.
The limits of confidentiality
Confidentiality is a very strong principle, but it is not absolute. The ethics of my profession and the law may require me to share information only in these exceptional cases:
- if your life or safety, or someone else’s, is in serious danger,
- if I suspect that a child is being abused or neglected (a legal duty to report),
- if a court orders it,
- when you give written permission (for example, if you want me to talk to your doctor or your child’s school).
In such a case I share only what is necessary, only with the people concerned, and whenever possible I talk it through with you first.
Something on your mind?
You can ask me anything about confidentiality at the first meeting, or even before it. I’m happy to talk it through.
